Degen Estate Pokolbin

Review Degen Estate Hunter Valley: A Perfect Getaway for Groups, Families & Friends

Nestled in the heart of the Hunter Valley, Degen Estate offers the perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and breathtaking vineyard views—making it an ideal getaway for families, groups of friends, and wine lovers. Whether you’re here to explore the region’s world-class wineries, relax by the pool, or enjoy quality time with loved ones in a stunning countryside setting, this spacious estate has everything you need for an unforgettable stay.

I was fortunate to stay here with a group of fun travel writers for the ASTW Travel Writers Conference. Our luxury accommodation was spread over the main building and two self-contained cottages, accommodating up to 20 guests in 9 bedrooms with 6.5 bathrooms.

The Summer House is located at the entrance of the main accommodation building. Before the conference activities began, I enjoyed some moments of solitude, luxuriating in its lounges, admiring the decor, and enjoying the views over the countryside.

The terrace and BBQ area are perfect for entertaining. They overlook the swimming pool, which I did not have time to use due to a full schedule.

The two self-contained cottages have a kitchen, living room and verandah with bbq facilities.

There is plenty of parking for all.

The property is set on 54 acres and offers breathtaking vineyard views stretching to the Brokenback Ranges. Each morning, I saw hot air balloons gracefully floating over the vineyards outside my bedroom window.

I had one of the bedrooms with an ensuite bathroom. The bed was very comfortable, with luxurious linens and firm pillows, just as I like them. There was a small sitting area. The bathroom was a good size, with a shower and toiletries. Doesn’t the sitting area look perfect for a cheeky glass of Degen Estate wine before heading out for dinner?

I could open my bedroom door and step onto the verandah, where the inviting pool awaits—perfect for a refreshing morning dip or a relaxing evening unwind.

A Must Do: Visit the Degen Estate Cellar Door to taste their semillon, Chardonnay, and Shiraz wines, which have matured in French or American oak barrels.

It’s location in the Hunter Valley at 365 Deasys Road in Pokolbin puts you in the heart of the Hunter Valley. You’ll have easy access to the area’s best wine-tasting experiences, making it an ideal base for exploring the Hunter Valley’s wine country.
