TOTTO means ‘come together’ in Latin; you feel this as soon as you arrive. The very warm welcome from the staff makes you feel as if you are family immediately. The Reception and Lounge Area creates a very comfortable space for relaxing with a coffee or a drink from the bar before or after you check in. The area faces west and it felt very cosy and warm in the chill of the winter afternoon.
Hotel TOTTO offers 150 rooms made up of King, Queen, Twin and accessible rooms. I loved the muted tones used in their interior design. The rooms are simply decorated and minimalistic in style. The beds are extremely comfortable and I had a great night’s stay snuggled in their luxurious linen.
Facilities include:
- Air-conditioning/heating
- Tea and coffee maker
- Flat TV
- Mini-bar
- Urban Jungle 100% vegan luxe toiletries
- Self-check-in and check-out 24 hours a day
My Queen Room on the 4th floor had great views over the Church and beyond to the coastline.
Secure parking is available on-site for 100 cars.
Basta Trattoria – the best place to eat in Wollongong
Basta means ‘enough’ in Italian. You definitely will not complain about the size of the dishes on offer at Basta Trattoria.
All products are sourced locally where possible. Enjoy craft beer from Barons Brewing in Kiama and their excellent coffee is from White Horse in the Shire.
Do you love a good margarita? Order the Italian Margarita made with Jose Cuervo Reposado Tequila, Amaretto, Triple Sec and Lime Juice. Maybe order two! It was that good! There is a great wine list available.
If you are a lover of olives make sure you order a bowl for starters, the marinade is to die for.
Well, what can I say about the pizza dough that is used for the wood-fired bread with garlic oil and pizzas? Watch the chefs as they prepare the dough that has been made with love, fermented for 48 hours and each dough is given a name and treated like a baby. I can highly recommend their very tasty wood-fired bread with garlic oil. If you can, watch how it is made in the wood-fired pizza oven – it is really a performance (check it out in our Youtube video). I did not try the pizza as the pasta – casarece capers chilli and aqua pazza caught my eye – and it tasted just as exquisite as it sounded, silky smooth and the chilli gave it the right kick from the first mouthful.
Not one usually for desserts, after checking the menu I could not bypass the white chocolate tiramisu.
You won’t go hungry with their excellent breakfast menu. There are so many delicious choices it did take me a while to decide. I chose the buckwheat pancakes with ricotta, maple syrup and fruit, which I could not finish as it was very filling and delicious.
